Grizzly Ranch

070413-TeeTime

This family friendly course designed by Bob Cupp is a course not to be missed, while challenging all levels of golfers. The course is set against a rustic, serene setting that invites tranquility and peace to all golfers even those whose game has abandoned them. The climate is ideal and noticeably warmer than Lake Tahoe thanks to an elevation of 5,200’. This also allows for Grizzly Ranch to have a longer season than many courses in Tahoe. The views are spectacular on nearly every hole, with pristine fairways and true greens that are in excellent condition.

Toughest Hole
The par 5, 3rd hole plays 646 yards from the tips. The medium-to-long three shotter requires two strong golf shots to a lay up position. The hole plays slightly uphill from south to north. From the lay up position, it’s a wedge approach to the green that sits across a small wetland with a counter slope on the other side. Two bunkers frame the front section of the green, which is the prime pin location. The putting surface is easy to read. Don’t forget to admire the view of Beckwourth Peak down the 3rd fairway before heading to the 4th tee.

Signature Hole
The par 4, 9th hole measures 440 yards from the tips. The tee shot presents one of the prime views in all of golf. A giant ponderosa wolf tree stands on watch on the left side of the landing area. The corridor of pines and meadows leads to a view of Beckwourth Peak. Below the peak, the green lies passively by the lake at the end of the fairway. Just beyond the water is a covered bridge, reflected in the lake. A small bunker guards the left front corner, but it normally does not come into play. The putting surface is quite large and features a small back left pin area, which borders the lake and a slightly larger section on the right edge. This is an exciting green to end an extraordinary hole that concludes the front nine.
