Good fun, good food

Chocolate & Strawberry Pizza  ·

Dimaggio’s at the Lake is what is often referred to as a triple threat. In addition to being a nifty little food spot, they also have a happening bar and a small grocery mart — kind of a one stop for all your needs. My BFF, Cory Andis, was in town for a few days, so it was great to have her accompany me on this tasty adventure.

The restaurant/bar has a Tahoe sports bar feel to it with snowboards and surfboards adorning the walls, and the menu is casual and fun. Owners Gary Sr. and Jr. greet us and we start off with house salads served by Dev, our waitress. My old Monday Night Football buddy, Brandon, was the bartender for the night making the atmosphere even more friendly and fun.

They do not skimp on the veggies for the salads at Dimaggio’s. Laden with mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, olives, tomatoes and topped with a generous helping of cheese, this is just the right size to begin the meal. Plus, the bleu cheese dressing is creamy and rich with chunks of cheese. It also is worth mentioning that the lettuce here is fresh, creating a tasty, as well as healthy, bite.

The menu consists predominantly of deli-style sandwiches and pizzas with a few entrées in the mix. Cory is in the mood for pizza, so she concocts a combo of bacon, olives and mushrooms. The pizza dough is really delicious, and when it arrives the aroma of garlic makes it even more inviting. It provides the perfect foundation and I would heartily recommend giving the pizza a try.

I order the Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo, which is an ample portion with yummy sauce. The chicken is tender and this is a good dish to share, as there is plenty to be had.

Although we did not partake, it should be noted that Dimaggio’s has an extensive beer selection, boasting more than 130 different types.

For dessert, we simply cannot resist the Fruit Pizza. Utilizing the same crust (versatile, as well as delicious) they have a variety of toppings like peach, blueberry, cherry and chocolate, with a graham cracker crumble and vanilla drizzle. We choose a hybrid of chocolate and strawberry. Very rich, this is ideal for big appetites or for some take home for the munchies later.

A great place to hang out, Dimaggio’s is the kind of place you can bond with your friends and have a good time while chowing down on some tasty grub.
